Did YOU hear the news?! Disney just announced that Roundup Rodeo BBQ will be opening it’s doors in Hollywood Studios on March 23rd!!!!! Located near the main entrance to Toy Story land the newest eatery promises to provide a much needed food option to the park! Not only has Disney given us an opening date, but they also shared the menu!!!!! Let’s dive in!
Starting off, you need to know this is a family-style restaurant so everything below will basically be brought out on platters with you making a few choices along the way. You’ll start off by enjoying Prospector’s Homemade Cheddar Biscuits with a sweet pepper jelly. There’s also 3 different salads available as well including: Tomato Salad, Rex’s Romaine and Kale Salad, and a Watermelon Salad. (Doesn’t specifically say pick one so we’re assuming all 3 will be brought to the table). The main course focuses on the restaurant's house-smoked meats. Evil Dr. Smoked Ribs, Buttercup’s Beef Brisket, There’s a Sausage in My Boot, and BBQ Chicken - with Style are on the menu along with some plant-based offerings like slow-smoked cauliflower, oven-roasted “bratwurst,” and and Impossible “Rib Chop” if you should so choose. Family style restaurants at WDW usually mean “all-you-care-to-eat” where the CM will refill anything you want, but it does not specifically state that on the release so while we assume it will be similar to all the other locations around WDW be aware. If it is though, come hungry!
The table will also get to choose four of the following sides to pair with their meat platter. Married Spuds (loaded potato barrels), Force Field Fried Pickles, Slinky Doooooooog Mac & Cheese, Buckin’ Baked Beans, Cowpoke Corn on the Cob, Mean Old Potato Salad, Veggie Slaw, or Campfire-roasted veggies are all available and will definitely make picking only four a tough choice.
Once you’re done with dinner, it's time to satisfy that sweet-tooth with a selection of desserts. Again the release states: “choose from a selection for the table” - so we’re not really sure how this works (if you only get one kind for everyone or everyone just picks their one). Offerings include: Cupcake a la Forky, Lemon and Blueberry Cheesecake, Billy’s Chocolate Silk Pie, Goat’s Apple Pie, and Gruff’s Peach-Strawberry Pie. Roundup will also offer a selection of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. On the alcoholic menu we’ll definitely be trying the Frozen Peanut Butter & Jelly, while we’re sure Lincoln will be having the Partysaurus Rex (strawberry lemonade with GUMMY WORMS) from the non-alcoholic menu.
We have been waiting for Roundup to open since it was announced a couple years back and are excited that a new sit-down location will be available in Hollywood Studios very soon. While we are excited by the BBQ menu we hope that it is up to par with some of WDW’s other locations like the Polite Pig in DS and Regal Eagle in EPCOT and not a rushed version like some of the other offerings in Hollywood Studios (I’m looking at you Pizza Rizzo and Mama Melrose).
So we want to know, Are YOU looking forward to Roundup Rodeo BBQ opening? I know we’ll be adding it to our July trip! Head on over to our FB and IG accounts to continue the convo and let us know what you think!

August 2022 Disney+ Releases
Each month Disney+ graces us with new releases to enjoy. These can be totally new projects from the Marvel, Star Wars, Pixar, and so on universes, or older shows and movies that are just arriving on the platform for the fist time. Since first releasing, Disney+ has done a good job offering desirable new releases and August is no different. Here, we'll share some of the ones we're most looking forward to!
The beginning of the month brings the new Lightyear film on August 3rd. The film is supposedly the movie Andy from Toy Story saw that made him want a Buzz Lightyeaar toy.
Two days later (Aug 5th) LEGO Star War Summer Vacation will be available as another "special" much like the recent Christmas one. We also get the first of a series of sing-along versions of popular Disney classics in Lion King.
We'll see our first new Marvel offering of the month on the 10th with the release of the I Am Groot shorts. That same day we'll also get a personal favorite in our house when season 3 of Bluey will be made available .
Perhaps our most highly anticipated entry, Marvel will premiere it's She Hulk: Attorney at Law series on the 17th! (hopefully the CGI is better than the early trailers we saw).
On August 19th, we'll get 3 more sing alongs including: both the animated and live-action Beauty and the Beasts and Tangled.
Finally, our original pick for most anticipated was supposed to release on August 31st, but was recently pushed to a later date (Sept 21), was the latest entry into the Star Wars universe in Andor (but we'll talk about that net month).
There are many other new additions to Disney+ this month to go along with the above. To see the full slate use the link below!

Disney Character Meet-and-Greets Returning!
When COVID first hit the US, WDW closed it's doors to guests for the first time in History as a safety precaution. When they finally reopened, fans around the world were excited to return to the most magical place on Earth. However, it was not the same as before and rightfully so.
Limited park capacity, no parades and fireworks, temperature screenings, and social distancing were now all part of a WDW visit. That also meant that character meet-and-greets would not be the same and the fan-favorite hugs were a thing of the past. Now over two years later and most of the park returning to pre-pandemic "norms" Disney has announced that it will be bringing back non-distanced character interaction starting April 18th!
Disney Park blogs has announced that as of that date they will start reintroducing these interactions (hinting that it might be a slower roll out rather than an all-at-once return).
Regardless of how long it takes to get all the way back to "normal" we CAN NOT WAIT to get ourselves a Mickey hug!

Disney's New Genie Service Repleases
For longtime visitors of WDW you have no doubt utilized Disney's FastPass service in the past to shorten your wait on line for some of your favorite attractions and when the pandemic hit and FastPass dissappeared many wondered when it or IF ir would return. We have known for some time now that it would not be coming back as it once was, but instead as a brand new service called Genie.
Well, Genie (along with Genie+ and Lightening Lanes) have rolled out today and so far it seems to being going smoothly. At the time of this writing Rise of the Resistence and Slinky Dog slots were sold out (done by 10 am), but other than that it seems to be going ok. The biggest debate still seems to be whether or not Disney should have replaced its free FastPass service with the new Genie Service. While the standard Genie service is free to park guests, the Genie+ version costs $15 per day per person and grants more Lightening Lane access to skip longer lines. It also offers an "ala" carte menu to purchase individual lightening lane passes for the more popular attractions (like RotR and Slinky Dog).
While this is different for WDW, paid "fastpass" like programs have been the norm in the theme park industry for a long time. But then again, Disney is not just another theme park. While that debate will rage on, it's unfair to judge the new system on it's first day as everyone gets used to using it. Disney has released a quick video talking about how to use the new service in the parks which you can check out in the link below.
